Radio Advertisement
My last Digital Media project was a radio ad. I did not really know what I wanted to do until Mr. Holt gave us some ideas on what to do. I then decided I wanted to do a car dealership ad. On my car dealership, I went with a somewhat generic dealership name with just my last name and then auto sales. If went on the radio, a generic name would be beneficial to me getting straight to the point. Other than having some elaborate dealership name. Mr. Holt told us to have simple words so people do not have to think while listening to the audio commercial. I only did one recording, made my project simple with, and got the name of my dealership mentioned 3 times in my audio ad. (Elder Auto Sales) My project went well for the most part. At first all, the pictures I found online were jfif and I needing jpeg, which I Eventually found. They were just pictures of cars at dealerships. The actual audio part went good. I was a little over thirty seconds with the raw audio. I cut out my breath sounds and a mistake I made when I was recording. After that, my video was a little over twenty seconds, but it was ok because I planned on adding sound effects. I added a car start sound at the beginning, then an aggressive drive off sound at the end. In conclusion, this project was fun and felt like it was beneficial to me.
Video Commercial
The second project we did was a video commercial advertisement. I was in Jensyn's and Nathan's project which was a smoking PSA. My project was a car ad that got switch to a car dealership ad at the end to make it easier. It didn't get worked on until the last week because I was caught up in Nathan's and Jensyn's PSA. Plans for my advertisement got changed over time. Originally I wasn't going to a voice over and music and just use what I said in the project but like Mr. Holt said camera sound isn't good. Therefore the advertisement was more of a story than just people talking. It didn't have too many clips. I'm happy Nathan and Jensyn could help out. We re-shot a lot of clips to try and make it better and we picked from the best. The hardest part of this project was just figuring out what the shots were going to be. It was fun to go shoot outside of school for the first time. Although its only good if you are staying on task and not screwing around. Overall this project was a pretty fun time.
Intro PSA
- For my project, I did a sportsmanship PSA. It was an individual project but I had Alexis, Jensyn, and Nathan help me out. Nathan was the camera operator for most of the project. For the project, I realized I should probably be wearing shorts instead of jeans. I went down to the locker room and changed very quickly before we started filming. I needed a basketball so Coach Hayes let me borrow one. My video mostly consisted of wide shots because that was what I thought I needed for the project to work. It took multiple times for me to get the right shot of me jogging down the “court”. Then It was a medium shot of me just dribbling and trying to do some moves. After it changed to a wide shot of me doing more moves. Then I acted as if I was going up for a shot and Alexis pushed me over. This would probably never happen in a real game but I was just trying to be funny. There was the original shot of me falling over. Instead of using that clip, I used a matched action. I did this because it could be the same shot that Jensyn helped me up in. At the end of the video, I put the kshaa website and “BE A GOOD SPORT” with a fade to black. I really enjoyed this project, it short, easy, and fun.
Refresher
I had a really nice Christmas break but it was time to get back to the grind. These last few days with getting back to school we have been refreshing our memories and even learning some new tricks with adobe premiere. Mr. Holt has had us watch videos on Youtube about adobe premiere and adobe audition. We recorded around a 10 second sound and just played with the audio in premiere. I stretched my audio to %125 switching the option to varispeed. This made my voice sound really low and funny. Later I put some music over it and some random effects on that I found in the folder. We also played in Premiere Pro. I tried to do the green screening thing with the ultra key but i couldn't get it to work. I found some a random video in the student folders and just started doing some matched actions and jump cuts.
Intro PSA #2
For this PSA I did it over cheating. I decided to do cheating because I see it all the time. Kids think its better but italways hurts you in the long run. Nathan and Jensyn helped me out with the video. Jensyn was in the video and Nathan was the main camera man. It took only one day to film this PSA and two days to edit. I made this PSA really simple. I did a voice over with music and didn't use real sound. This was probably my best PSA yet because i made it simple and easy on myself. In the video Jensyn and I are in Mr. Bigges classroom. We are sitting together and he gets up to go leave. I check and make sure no one is watching then I take his paper off my desk. I have a few different shots of me cheating and then Jensyn walks back into the room to see me cheating off of him. Mr. Holt and other students in class seemed to like it.
Free project
This project was somewhat stupid. Not the one Mr. Holt assigned, but the one I made. I did not really know what to do so I walked around with a camera to try to get ideas. Then I saw the cooking room and I saw a bunch of people in there so I decided just to get random shots because I still did not know what was going to do. Therefore, that happened and then Juan and Perry were screwing around. Juan ended up slapping Perry hard. Without the audio, it looked fake but once people saw, it was the real sound they were surprised. Then, what I did after that in my video was few shots of the kitchen then the slapping. I probably should have had more shots or it would have definitely been better if I did before the slapping. It also would have been good if I somehow made a story out it. I was standing there in the class and then Juan was just like “Perry I’m going to slap you” then I thought that should be interesting. Then I got really good video of him getting slapped and then on my project I cut it out and copy and pasted it a bunch of times and with the normal cooking shots I had the start of a nice piano song and then It switched to rock when Perry was getting slapped.
Horror Scene
For a week or two, we have been working on a horror film scene. The shots are professional and Mr. Holt got the raw footage for us to edit. It was fun to work with professional shot film because it seemed like a real movie. The whole class got the script and we started going through it. I watched every clip and cut out all the stuff I needed and chose the best shot to use. It was somewhat hard to put together because I kept getting different film mixed up but then I finally got it. I missed two days while the class was doing the project but it was all right because other people were sick and I worked efficiently for the two days and for the day I got back. I used the “credits” template for the credits at the end, which took a while to type in. This was definitely good though because it makes the project look more professional. I amplified the audio so it would even out at six as it should to. I said that I cut out the footage to start with but im pretty sure I kept the tech tip in the video which I didn’t realize I did that until I did until I exported the project so I deleted the film and fixed it and exported again.
Chase Scene
This project we filmed a chase scene. Jensen, Nathan, and I worked together on my project. I wanted to incorporate many more shots and or shots of the same thing from different angles. This would add more suspense to the video. My video also was not the best it could be because in the video I was chasing Nathan for no reason. Originally, or our tentative plan was to have a shot of him stealing my wallet. I ran out of time to film this so my video’s story was not the best. I also somehow lost multiple shots of me chasing Nathan. Those shots were supposed to be at the beginning of the video. On the rest of the video, it was I chasing Nathan on the Sidewalk just outside the front of the school. Then we turned the corner around the southwest corner of the school. Nathan hid in a doorway and I walked past. So then, I walked down the little one-way street out to my car. I was acting as if I was looking for Nathan. Jensen, (the main camera operator) got in my car with me and we “found” Nathan running down the elementary school one-way and I chased after him from inside my car. I got close then I did a dip to black and a crash sound effect.
